The Hilltop Project – from house to home.

December 7, 2018

How many of you have been following the progress of the Hilltop Project?

I'd like to take a few minutes to tell Hilltop's story, for those of you who don't know.

My family has driven by more times than I can count. Right off the highway, the big white house and it's accompanying little trailer, set on top of the hill, was really hard to miss. As the years passed it became more difficult to recognize the homes, trash was building around them – mountains of trash. Boats, cars, tables, bicycles, chairs, lamps, boxes, file cabinets, umbrellas, rakes, picture frames, gasoline cans, dolls, boxes, books – if you can think of it, it was there. Along with piles of rocks, drift wood and garbage. Everything was in decay. It looked like a local dump yard.

Leave it to my visionary father to decide this was the perfect place to invest in. He looked right past that junk (the miles of it) and declared that the house was perfect. God happened to pair my Dad with a visionary wife, (thank goodness) and she too thought it was “cute”. And so Fidelity Home Solutions began the adventure of making these houses into homes.

We began with the trailer up on top of the hill. At once, we decided on christening it, “Hilltop”. First came ripping out the carpets. The entire place was rank with cat pee, and we soon discovered why. Every carpet was stained or wet from cat urine.

Then came scrubbing walls and cupboards and bathrooms. Paint was also in due order. Every knob was unscrewed and disinfected and washed. A new stove was put in. Dump runs were taken. The weeds mown, the curtains washed and new flooring put in.  One of the bathrooms

totally gutted and redone with new toilet, vanity, etc.

Soon the shabby little trailer began to look like a decent living place. It smelled better too!

A very nice family has now moved into Hilltop! I step in the front door and am greeted by the cheery furnace, warm wood tones, and freshly painted cabinets. I peek into the dining room and bedrooms – I actually can envision where I'd put the furniture, and how I'd decorate. The entire house seems to be calling for someone's personal touch. All Hilltop needed was a visionary to invest a little tender loving care. And that's exactly what we did!

Fidelity really was Hilltop's Home Solution.
