Ah, Fall! The word stirs up visions of color... leaves, pumpkins, flowers, ripe apples... hues of orange, yellow & red.
When it comes to color for your home, what palate do you like to work with? Cool, warm, rich, bold, neutrals? I am often drawn to warm colors, reds, browns and some shades of yellow.
What if you are choosing colors that work with log walls? Honestly, I think any color palate goes well with the beauty of wood. Did you know that there are also many color choices for staining your logs? Staining also preserves and protects logs from weather, moisture, sun bleaching, insects, etc.
Check out some of the many different colors.
One of the things I appreciate about the stains we use for our log cabins is that they do not use harsh chemicals and so are not as smelly and are gentle on the skin and for the earth. I love that Capture® Log Stain does not hide the grain, but instead brings out its natural glow. We also appreciate its long-lasting protection. These stains are formulated to move freely with your logs as they settle, instead of cracking and peeling like many others.
Another option may be to use a clear stain for the inside walls, leaving the logs as light and natural as possible. It's just a matter of personal choice.
If you are in the beginning process of creating your dream cabin or just in need of a little inspiration, come on over to our Pinterest boards for tons of ideas. Pick cabin decor, cabin kitchens, bedrooms, interiors, cabin lighting, urban cabins, just to name a few.
On our Projects page, you can follow along as we are getting ready to stain and chink our current cabin project. The home owners have chosen to use "Natural" Capture® Stain with "Buff" Log Jam® chinking. Stay tuned as we continue to add photos to share the progress with you.
"[Eddie's] crew is his family. They work so well together. Each one brings something wonderful to the table of ideas about this build. They are so very polite. Such a pleasure to have them here. In fact we will miss them when this is done."
Thanks for dropping in friends. We will see you again next week! In the mean time, come on over and stay connected on our Facebook page @FidelityHome. We'd love to hear from you there. I'd love to hear about your favorite boards and project ideas.
