Can you smell it? Fall is approaching and with it comes all those brilliant, cozy, crisp, comforting, spicy days.
Not many things can beat the fresh, fall mountain air. Except maybe the warmth of a crackling fire and hot cup of coffee... or the smell of spicy pumpkin bread baking (that homey smell that brings back fond childhood memories)... or that favorite sweater all worn around the edges, you know, the one you can't bear to throw away.
Okay, maybe I have too many fall favorites. Admittedly, it IS my favorite season. Fall somehow makes me want to get creative- whether in the kitchen, seasonal crafts or decorating.
Speaking of decorating, don't you just love the endless possibilities that a log cabin offers? There are so many styles that work with logs. Rustic, vintage, eclectic, lakeside, woodsy, classic and even modern industrial. One of my favorite spots to decorate at home is the front porch. It is one of the first spots our visitors see and your first chance to make them feel welcome.
This wee cabin is our guest cabin. It is just 12'x16' with a 4' covered porch. We call it The Storybook Cabin. It is also our model for showing folks what we do. It is one of my "fun" spots for seasonal decorating. What are some of your favorite spots to decorate? What do you like to use? Do you have a style you like best?
I usually have a hard time pinning down my decorating style because I just use things I like. Although, they are usually "old" things that have been used and loved. I like to re-purpose things if I can. Is that a style? I don't know, but if they make me happy or smile, I will use them in my home.
I would really love to have a way to make this a two way conversation with you. I would really like to know about YOUR decorating ideas and see photos of your porches.
Let's continue this subject over on our Facebook page. There you can add your thoughts, tips, ask questions and share photos! I can't wait to meet you there!
